I wrote a review on FOSI AUDIO's forum, so I won't be rambling on much about it over here.
The hype is there for a good reason and it's because it's that good.
I figured I'd take a chance because of all the awesome reviews, and the feeling of getting back into audio again, woe, wow, Fosi did it for me. I bought one and then a few weeks later, another.
Don't take my word for it
, just buy it and try it out. It smoked my well regarded 18 hundred dollar amp and a few others costing less. It can sound better than some amps costing 3 to 4k or maybe even more than that.
Let it break in for at least 300 hundred hours. The only thing I notice, I have a slight squiggly high pitch sound coming from my tweeters in rca mode.
I'm waiting for Fois audio to respond. This is in mono mode and only in rca mode that does this, not in balanced mode. My speakers are hyper sensitive at 96 db.. Tekton enzo's, it matches up in sound beyond what I was expecting. The opa2134pa opamps are another step up in sound quality then the stock opamps. I bought 2 OPA2134PA opamps for the left/right amps, and 2 for the xlr connections. I was confused with most reviews that do not mention that if you do an opamp swap, they are all of the same opamp numbers in the sub amp section along with all the left/right xlr. I took both the sub out opamp's out of the signal path and left it empty, you can do that.
I went with all of the same opamps, it makes sense to do that, what would be the point of leaving in the stock opamp's if it has more distortion specs than the opamps opa2134pa? Makes sense too me. Lot of snobs in this hobby, so be prepared for them to be threatened about the is little amp. It's hurting their gravy train.
I have more than one preamp/amp and speakers to evaluate this amp, its that good. I wish audio sounded this good 30 years ago at this price point, I would have saved hundreds of thousands of dollars. This hobby can be dangerous and make you a poor man.
Be careful, 150 dollar hype won't break you and all the upgrades you can get out of this Fosi Audio product, it won't disappoint many and save you some nightmares that I discovered along the audiophile merry go round. I hope this reviews enlightens some folks and saves you from wasting your time/money elsewhere.
I hope Fosi makes a kick ass balanced preamp with at least 2 rca inputs and at least one balanced in and one balanced out.
Thanks Fosi Audio.
